A Few of My Favorite Things

Vacationing is one of my favorite things.  Just hanging out and spending time with with my family exploring new locations -- totally enjoyable.  So in lieu of some new knitting pics, here are some of my favorite shots from our weekend in Toronto.  (I knit most of the 6 hours we spent in the car over the weekend and have finished the black Wine and Roses mitts.  I'll take some pictures after they're blocked.)

Some of my favorite things:

Just seeing if you were paying attention.  OK, rhino rears really aren't one of my favorite things (um, thankfully). Butt (still paying attention?) the Toronto Zoo is and that is where said rhino rear was.

Definitely some of my favorite things. We traveled with our neighbors which added a delightful new dimension to our little vacation.  What a great group of kids!

Toronto skyline.  One of my very favorite cities.  I feel very lucky to be within a 3 hour drive of a world class metropolitan center.  (Oh yeah.  This was the view from the hotel room.  Awwwwsome.)

Most puzzling food stuff of the trip.  I bought some bubble tea (one of my favorite beverages) and alternately fascinated and grossed out the kids.  It was definitely "That's gross."  "Can I try it?" "Ewww" "Can I try another one?" The general consensus was "interesting" but the jury was still out a bit on the consistency.  (BTW, bubble tea is cold flavored tea (my was pina colada) with large black purls of tapioca in the bottom.  The drinker is given an extra large straw so the "bubbles" can be sucked up with the tea.

We also stopped here on the way home.  Also one of my favorite places.  No matter how many times I see Niagara Falls, it is still totally impressive.

Bubble tea is up there with epic poetry and the Holocaust as one of mankind's worst innovations. Your children have good taste.
