A Fairly Random Friday
Just a few random projects going on currently. Here they are in no particular order. Well, actually the order chronological -- the way I took the pictures. I'm am nothing if not sequential.
These are my second pair of Wine and Roses Mitts from Interweave and my first professional knitting project. (It's fairly difficult to take a picture of black yarn with any kind of stitch definition.) I'm hugely flattered that someone liked them enough to request a pair. And since they are actually being delivered, they left the house like this.
(Although the bow was straight when the package left for its destination.)
These are the materials for my next project. I ordered some Pakucho organic cotton from Elann in sage and cafe. The cotton is from Peru and grows naturally in shades of green, brown, cream and white. I'm not usually a huge fan of knitting with cotton as it doesn't stretch and knitting with it makes my hands tired. But, I'm knitting face clothes and they are short enough projects that it's not a problem. Since the cotton has never been dyed, the yarn is surprisingly soft and smooth. The face clothes are destined to be end-of-the-year gifts for my kids' teachers. School doesn't end until late June. Am I ahead of the game or what? ( Yikes. Did you hear that? That was the knitting fates getting ready to smite a project of mine to balance my gloat.)
I also used my extremely high tech system to hang dry some of my homespun yarn after a gentle wash. MacGuyver would be proud. You should see what I can make with a shoe string and some gum.

And I know how you really feel about MacGyver -- You always had a thing for Richard Dean Anderson in the mullet
Next thing you need to do is somehow reference Scott Bakula / Quantum Leap in the blog!
Love, DH
